Application Procedure for
a Scholarship Fund Grant
Eligibility:
The applicant must be a member or a relative (immediate family such as parent, grandparent, brother, sister) of a member of the St. David’s Society of Utica, New York, for the past two years.
Description of Award Criterion
for Selection:
- The Society expects to make awards each year from donations to and interest income from the Educational Trust Fund.
- Awards will be made in consideration of post-secondary education, specialized secondary education and vocational education. There will be no more than four yearly awards made to any one student.

Selection of individuals
for scholarships will be based on:
- Individual or family
involvement in St. David's Society.
- Personal experiences
such as work, school activities, and community involvement.
- Academic performance.
- Scholastic aptitude.
- Awareness and appreciation
for Welsh heritage.
- Recommendation of applicant
by school counselor, teacher, or other professional.
- Preference will be given
to one (1) scholarship per family per year.
- All application information must be received by June 1.
Instructions:
- Complete the two-page Scholarship
Application form. Save the completed document on your
computer, and print a copy to be mailed as described in step 4 below.
Incomplete forms will not be considered. Ineligible applicants will
not be considered.
- Print a copy of the Applicant Appraisal Form, fill in your name at the top of the form, request that a high school
or college counselor, advisor, instructor or supervisor complete the form, and return it directly to you in time for you to meet the June 1st submission deadline.
- Attach the following to
your application :
- Your grade
transcript for the most recently attended institution.
- Copy of your SAT,
ACT, GRE or other standardized test scores.
- An essay
written by you of not less than 150 words and no more than 300 words
on the subject, "In what way has my Welsh heritage influenced
my life?"
- The Applicant Appraisal Form that was completed for you by your counselor | advisor | instructor | supervisor (Step 2, above).
- All of the application forms and attachments are to be mailed to the committee chairperson, Leonard Pugh, 122 Cider St., Oriskany, NY 13424 prior to June 1st to be eligible for consideration.
